I too have questions about prayer and communication with God. About feeling it, why I do it, etc.

Thank you!!!!
Shannon :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4375025077612556800.post-14285317314738526762010-12-01T15:14:18.361-08:002010-12-01T15:14:18.361-08:00April,

Thank you for your beautiful openness in the sharing of your beautiful brokenness.

You probably have seen the video, but I am attaching the url to it. It is a video of Brennan Manning in 1999. He was giving a talk at some retreat. In it he talks about prayer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY7c6XPagmA

As for me? All of the above (Meditative, Contemplative/Conversational/Listening, etc).
However, I do believe that it can go beyond that. Art can become a prayer. The awe and reverence found in the beauty of creation can be prayer. So can a sigh or a wordless humming of a song. Perhaps even a tear.

As for the effects of our prayers? I could not even begin to fathom the mystery of that. For it is a mystery. And a paradox as well.

I believe . . . I feel . . . I KNOW that prayer is important and that something DOES happen. Just what, I could not say. And yes, I get pissed and angry and "curmudgeonly" when what I prayed for does not turn out like I had envisioned it would. I think it's ok to let Papa God know that. I don't think it would bother or surprise Him . . .Shepherd Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01193712197555327351noreply@blogger.com
